7 Roofing Website Mistakes That Cost You Calls (and How to Fix Them)

The most common roofing website problems we find in audits, why they lose homeowners, and the quick fixes that bring the calls back.

Homeowners who need a roofer usually decide fast. They search on their phone, tap a few results and call whoever looks trustworthy and easy to reach. If your website slows them down, they're gone in seconds.

We audit roofing websites every week. These are the seven problems we find most often, and how to fix each one.

1. The phone number is hard to find

The single most valuable action on a roofing website is a phone call. Yet many sites hide the number in the footer, or show it as an image that can't be tapped on a phone.

The fix: put a tap-to-call number in the header of every page and next to every main button. On mobile, add a sticky "Call now" button.

2. There's no quick way to ask for a quote

Not everyone wants to call. Some homeowners browse at night or at work. If the only option is a long contact form, many leave.

The fix: a short quote form on every page: name, phone, address and what they need. Let them upload photos of the damage; it helps you quote faster.

3. The site is slow on phones

Most roofing searches happen on mobile, often on a weak signal. Large uncompressed photos and heavy page builders can make a site take many seconds to load, and visitors leave before it does.

The fix: compress and resize images, remove unused plugins and aim for a mobile load time under two seconds. Google's PageSpeed Insights shows you where you stand.

4. Reviews and credentials are buried

Homeowners are letting a stranger onto their roof. They want proof: reviews, licences, insurance, warranties and manufacturer certifications.

The fix: show your best reviews, your rating and your credentials near the top of the homepage, not on a separate page nobody visits.

5. Google doesn't know where you work

If your pages never say which towns you serve, Google has a hard time showing you to homeowners in those towns.

The fix: name your main service areas in headings and page titles, and create genuinely useful service-area pages for the towns that matter most. Avoid copy-and-paste pages with only the town name changed.

6. Every service is crammed onto one page

"Roof repair, replacement, gutters, siding, storm damage" on a single page gives Google and customers very little to go on.

The fix: give each main service its own page, with what's included, common questions and real photos of your work. Each page can then rank for its own searches.

7. You can't tell which calls come from the website

If you don't track calls and form submissions, you can't tell whether your website, Google Business Profile or ads are working.

The fix: add call tracking and form tracking, so every lead from the site is counted.

How long do these fixes take?

Most of these are quick. The first five can often be fixed in about a week without rebuilding your site. Service pages and local SEO build results over the following months.
